Our New Year’s resolution: provide 50,000 local meals by the end of February.
To reach this goal, we're launching a Fed Up With Hunger!community campaign, bringing local partners and volunteers together to donate 50,000 nutritious meals
to Religious Community Services (RCS) for distribution to those in need.
The ingredients to create these meals cost $12,500... just 25 cents a serving.
We're kicking off the Fed Up With Hunger!campaign with a donation of $5000,
and a commitment to build the community volunteer and financial support needed.
On behalf of thousands of Craven County residents, we're asking for your help.
Please spend a few minutes here and see how easy it is to make a difference!

The event on Saturday morning the 23rd was a HUGE success. Neighbors from all over the area travelled to New Bern to lend a hand. The founders of Outreach Inc. came here from Iowa to provide training and inspiration. And in two hours, the enthusiastic teams of volunteers transformed pallets of raw materials into packaged meals ready for distribution through the RCS Food Pantry.
As of Monday morning, February 21st, we're within $1,000 of the $12,500 it is costing to purchase 50,000 meals for those in need in Craven County. Our thanks to the many people who have already given generously by check and online. All proceeds over the $12,500 needed will go to purchase additional food staples for those in need.
Charlie Hall did a beautiful job capturing the excitement of Saturday's packaging event on the front page in Sunday's edition of the Sun Journal. If you missed the story and the additional full page of color photos in print, click here to catch the online version.
Our thanks to Charlie, to Sue Book and to Randy Foster for their coverage and support of the Fed Up With Hunger! campaign.
Our thanks to Phil Knight for talking with Outreach Inc founders Floyd Hammer and Kathy Hamilton, and with Noon Rotary President Debbie Taggart on Friday morning's show about Fed Up With Hunger!
Catch the Phil Knight Show on CTV-10 live from 7-9AM, and again at 5 and 11PM.
